Sharlee Ruthman Consulting is a leadership and management development consulting firm that helps organisations achieve their growth and profitability goals through investing in their employees' skills and capabilities.

We understand that for organisations to grow and maintain their competitive edge, they have to invest in their employees and their employees' capabilities. Organisations that place a premium on human capital development and value the creation of a strong employee-centric brand, become employers of choice, attracting and retaining key talent in the industry.

However, a strong employee value proposition that emphasizes career and personal development opportunities doesn't just happen. It needs to be a well thought-through process, which starts by understanding the organisation's strategic intent, evaluating what key organisational competencies are needed to achieve the strategy, assessing the gap between current skills and the required skills, and then aligning leadership and management development strategies and plans in order to achieve its overarching goals.

Having clear, career progression plans for all employees, enables them to understand what is needed to achieve higher levels of career growth in your organisation. My Story

After a successful and enriching 14-year career as a leadership and management development expert, I decided to start my own consulting and pursue my passion for democratizing access to quality leadership and management education so that I can make it more accessible, thus making a larger contribution to lifting economies, nations and societies out of systemic poverty and perpetually sluggish economic growth rates.

As a leadership and management expert who is dedicated to helping organisations and their leaders reach their fullest potential, every day is filled with opportunities to make a difference through leadership and management development. I leverage my unique ability to tap into the human elements of performance and personal development and this enables me to help organisations grow through their people. By leveraging my academic and professional experience in strategy, leadership and general management, particularly when I design learning experiences, my main priority is to not only shift participants’ mindsets but also have a marked impact on shifting their behaviours for sustainable change. I believe that having engaged and well-trained employees is a hard-to-replicate formula for sustained competitive advantage. 


As an entrepreneur who has spent the past 4 years running a full-scale leadership and management development consultancy, I work with corporations and other governmental and non-governmental institutions to develop their leaders and managers. I take a learning and development approach to developing solutions for my clients and focus on advisory, facilitation and delivery of end-to-end learning experiences and also guide my clients to think more strategically about the role of leadership and management development in their organisations.  I do this by immersing myself in the worlds' of my clients, their people and their context, and then designing and developing solutions to solve their most pressing people development challenges and opportunities.

 

My academic career to date has focused on the broad domain of general management and I have completed a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Post-Graduate Diploma and General Management (PGDip GM), and Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA) all from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). I also hold an Undergraduate Degree in Marketing majoring in Quantitative Techniques and Market Research.

I use the culmination of my experience in leadership development and my deep passion for developing people to truly guide the work I do. I appreciate that at the heart of being human, is a deep need for achievement, recognition and self-expression. I therefore take the whole leader, their hopes, their fears and their ambitions into account when delivering solutions. This, I believe, makes all the difference between winning the hearts and not just the minds of people. It answers the "what's in it for me" too and compels leaders towards a better future.
